Philly is getting a WNBA team

You can thank Caitlin Clark for this. If she didn't arrive in the WNBA, then they'd be losing money like usual with their unwatchable product. Seriously, if I wanted to watch bad basketball, I'd just watch the Sixers.

Either way, the WNBA is coming to Philly in 2030. Hopefully Caitlin Clark is still in the league, otherwise the expansion teams won't go anywhere because people won't be watching it without her.

Philly's new professional women's basketball team will make its debut in the 2030 season, pending approval from the WNBA and the NBA Board of Governors, the league announced on Monday, June 30, 2025. The team -- which has not yet been named -- will be based in South Philadelphia and will be owned and operated by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE).
