OMFG! Now NYC is going after coal, wood-fired pizzerias

Ever have a slice of pizza from a wood or coal fired oven? Pretty good, right? Well, if you're in New York City, then guess who the big government is going after next! That's right, it's the coal and wood fired pizzerias and they're being targeted by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection - clearly a bunch of goons who aren't worried about the 12-foot tall piles of trash and dinosaur-sized sewer rats all over. But hey, people like pizza and the government likes ruining anything that's fun, so why not target these little kitchens selling food and make them find a way to cut carbon emissions, like anyone even gives a sewer rat's ass.

Let alone the fact the planet will literally be fine. it's endured much worse than some pizza places in NYC, so it's somewhat arrogant to for NYC to think their pizza places are ruining the planet. They're not. They should just shut up. I can see if the pizza place is blowing smoke into someone's home or business, then get a filter or method to contain it, but if it's not, then just leave businesses alone for crying out loud.

NY Post reported the following:

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has drafted new rules that would order eateries using the decades-old baking method to slice carbon emissions by up to 75%.

“All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” DEP spokesman Ted Timbers said in a statement Sunday. “This common-sense rule, developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups, requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible.”

The rule could require pizzerias with such ovens installed prior to May 2016 to buy pricey emission-control devices — with the owner of one Brooklyn joint saying he’s already tossed $20,000 on an air filter system in anticipation of the new mandate.
