Texas Punches Ticket to Super Regionals in 10-1 Win Over Air Force
#9 Texas is moving onto their 23rd Super Regional following a dominant win over the Air Force Falcons in the Austin Regional Final.
The bats got off to a fast start for the Longhorns and they never let up. After Dylan Campbell drew a walk, Ivan Melendez blasted his 30th home run of the season to put the Longhorns up 2-0. Texas loaded up the bases and a wild pitch allowed Austin Todd to score. Mitchell Daly walked and loaded the bases for the second time. Trey Faltine ripped a ground rule double into the Air Force bullpen which scored two and made it 5-0 in the first.
Travis Sthele took the mound to start the game for the Longhorns. Sthele threw three scoreless innings.
In the third, an infield single by Todd and a single by Skyler Messinger quickly put two runners on for the Longhorns. A sacrifice fly by Silas Ardoin and another by Daly allowed Todd to score extending the Texas lead to six.
The fourth inning saw Campbell launch his eighth home run of the season and second of the weekend making it 7-0.
Jared Southard entered the game in the fourth and produced another three scoreless innings along with six strikeouts.
Messinger ripped one to right field in the fifth. A wild pitch put Messinger in scoring position. A double by Ardoin allowed Messinger to score giving the Longhorns an eight-run lead.
Andre Duplantier II entered the game in the seventh and kept the Falcons scoreless through the eighth.
The eighth saw Campbell crush his second solo home run of the day to put the Longhorns up by nine.
With two outs in the ninth, Messenger got on base after a hit-by-pitch. Following a pitching change, Daly sent one to center field and put Messinger on second. A hit to right by Faltine scored Messinger, but Daly was thrown out at home plate ending the inning (10-0 Longhorns).
Lebarron Johnson Jr. came in to close out the game for the Longhorns. Air Force got their only run of the game on a solo home run by DH Braydon Altorfer.

The Longhorns will face off in the Super Regionals this upcoming weekend against the winner of Eastern Carolina and Coastal Carolina which is set for 12:00 PM CT on Monday.
