Jalen Hurts talks about working with new OC Kevin Patullo
You want to know what’s really annoying about professional football and most other sports? It’s when a team wins a championship and some of the coaching staff leaves to work somewhere else for a bigger paycheck – even if the team sucks and they’re about to lose almost every game.
I know the money is important, but how can it be any fun to lose every other week? Does counting all those bucks make you happy after getting stomped on national television? I guess it helps.
Either way, we’re dealing with the same thing in Philadelphia. The Eagles won the Super Bowl and the offensive coordinator took off for another team. Now the Bird Gang has to work with yet another offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo.
He’s been with the team already, so he knows a thing or two, but the constant changes in coaching makes the team rebuild chemistry and learn perhaps an entirely new playbook.
Jalen Hurts spoke about working with Kevin Patullo. And if you know anything about Jalen Hurts, then you know he’s basically an emotionless statue. All business and barely ever a smile. But that’s fine with me considering he’s been to two Super Bowls, won one, and played like the MVP in both – and winning it once!
Hurts said the following as reported on Bleeding Green Nation:
“I’ve treated this offseason like I’ve treated every offseason. Coming in and trying to learn as much as I can, trying to develop that chemistry with the playcaller. And as offensive leadership changes, you have to find ways to — not really about finding ways, it’s more so about depositing time into it. I spend a lot of time. So, we’ve had some valuable conversations that I think will help us all in the end.
And, of course, he’s already had a mark on all of the teams since Coach Sirianni and himself have been here. So, we’re just building. Far from where we want to be, but trying to build that and trying to continue to grow.”
