Urban Meyer, the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been dismissed.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in an interview with ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he was “heartbroken” to reach such a decision after weeks of deliberation, but that the move was necessary for the team.
Back in October, Khan stated that recovering trust and respect was critical, but this did not happen.
Khan has declined to say anything else about the situation until the NFL season is over.
Khan, on the other hand, stated that Trent Baalke will continue to serve as the team’s general manager and will seek to keep the team motivated and competitive throughout the final four games of the season.
Bevell, a former offensive coordinator with the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions, will be the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator for the rest of 2021.
Meyer’s brief tenure resulted in a 2-11 record, and his dismissal comes after former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo claimed that Meyer kicked him and cursed at him during preseason warm-ups this year.
