It’s official and it’s awesome! Celtics player Enes Kanter, a Turkish-American, just celebrated his first day of being an American citizen by changing his last name to FREEDOM!
He is now officially known as Enes Kanter Freedom and there couldn’t be anything more awesome than a guy coming into the country, loving it, and supporting it more than many of the people who refuse to appreciate what we have in this great nation.
Kanter is a vocal anti-China guy who called out players like LeBron James who refuses to speak out about the horrible things going on.
Kanter has a long history of social activism. He has been an outspoken critic of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and was indicted in his home country in 2018 on charges of belonging to an armed terrorist group, which he denies. Turkey, which revoked his passport, is seeking his extradition.
This season, Kanter has expressed support for Tibet, a stance that has led to Celtics games being pulled from Chinese media. (ESPN)
Kanter has no problem calling things like he personally sees them. Just look at the smile on his face as he explains how people need to focus more on being appreciative of America and all the freedoms we have here. He suggests if you went to another country with less freedoms, you’d be really quick to miss it here and appreciate all we have.
