Dwyane Wade straight up said “I ain’t buying that” when it came to talks about LeBron James possibly retiring from the NBA. In fact, most of us don’t think James will retire because he’s often talked about trying to play on the same team as his son, Bronny, and there’s a lot of weight for him to make that happen in any way possible. Just think, if you’re playing on an NBA team with your son, that must be amazing. Of course, most guys could probably join the WNBA and take their high-school son and play in front of a crowd of tens, but that’s not exactly the same. Not even close.
Wade appeared on a podcast with Shannon Sharpe, ‘Club Shay Shay,’ and talked about James retiring. Wade struck it down immediately suggesting there’s no way LeBron will just retire like that. It seems like you’d have to pry LeBron from the floor before he retired, at least if it was before he had the chance to play with his son – if his son makes it in the league.
Wade told Shannon Sharpe the following, as quoted by Bleacher Report:
“You’re talking about the guy who just had 40-10-9 in his last game? … I just want to make sure we’re talking about the same guy. … All my money is still in my pocket, I ain’t buying nothing. It’s the moment after the game, man. It’s a lot. Obviously, what they came back from, shout out to the Lakers making the moves that they made to help them make that push.”
Bleacher Report also said there was one little thing that LeBron James told someone at ESPN. James allegedly told Dave McMenamin that he’d consider retiring after the Denver Nuggets swept the Lakers from the playoffs. Was that LeBron James just giving a generic answer based on his emotions from getting swept, or was it serious?
Here’s Dwyane Wade talking to Shannon Sharpe about Lebron James and the retirement possibilities.
