“We’re praying for him”: Tyrese Maxey scores 50, dedicates win to Kelly Oubre who got hit by a car

The Philadelphia 76ers are on a roll right now with a record of 8-1 after getting rid of that bum James Harden who seems to ruin just about every team he steps on. Clippers, how you doing right now? Oh, that’s right. Anyway, star guard Tyrese Maxey scored his career-high 50 points in the Sixers win over the Indiana Pacers, winning 137 to 126 in a high scoring match-up. Maxey, the NJ native, used his postgame message to dedicate the win to his teammate, Kelly Oubre Jr., who was hit by a car in Philly last week. Oubre  suffered broken ribs and some minor injuries, but will miss what’s noted as ‘significant’ time.

That was awesome for Maxey to let his teammate know they’re thinking about him and miss him on the court. The bad part is that Oubre is on a one-year contract, so he was really trying to ball out and get himself a big deal with the Sixers or whomever would offer him a nice check. Maxey was quoted saying this after the game: “This had nothing to do with me… This is all Kelly Oubre. We’re praying for him. Love my dawg. I just met him, but I love him. I hope he gets well soon.”

Now THAT is a good teammate. Take notes, James Harden! Maxey continued saying:  “Joel wanted me to get 50 more than even I did… When he gave me the ball, he said, ‘You are going to shoot this basketball.’ And that’s why I appreciate my teammates, my coaches and the fans. It was a great night and we got the win, which is what matters most.”

Then to make it even better, Joel Embiid was saying great things after the Sixers win against the Pacers too! Embiid said: “We are playing together and trusting each other… It may look like we didn’t play defense tonight, but [Indiana] plays so fast, it’s incredible with the pace. So they are going to score a lot, but we just competed. We lowered our guard for a bit, but we had Tyrese to help close it out.”

This could be the best Sixers start we’ve seen in years and I personally think it has to do with James Harden being shipped OUT of town and over to the Clippers who are now struggling since he arrived. Did you see Harden’s airball the other night? How much worse can it get?

What happened to Kelly Oubre? He was hit by a car in Center City and the person driving took off. Just another day in Philly, right? Crime is out of control here and our own Sixers player just got ran over in a hit-and-run. The streets are mean here! Oubre got taken to a hospital and he’s expected to be evaluated again in about a week. This isn’t season-ending, according to the report on ESPN, so that’s good. I hope Oubre makes a stellar comeback and lands himself a nice contract. He seems to be doing a good job before that whole getting ran over thing.

ESPN reported that the Sixers sent Oubre a video from the postgame celebration in the lockerroom since they weren’t able to catch him on FaceTime.

“The game today, I’m sure Tyrese was thinking about it and we were all thinking about it,” Embiid said. “We just want [Oubre] to take his time, recover and know that we have his back. He’s needed because he’s a big part of us. We missed him tonight, but he should take his time.”

"Man, this had nothing to do with me. This is all Kelly Oubre, man. We praying for him man, love my dawg. I just met him, but I love him. I hope he gets well soon."
