Mac Jones got benched in Germany during loss to Colts, sparking rumors of trading Coach Bill Belichick

Quarterback Mac Jones got benched in Germany during the New England Patriots 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Talk about embarrassing though! The guy gets benched in another country and his team loses in a low scoring game that probably had German football fans wishing the NFL stayed home. So they went to the other side of the planet to put up 16 total points? Yep, that really happened.

Mac Jones put up 15/20 for 170 yards and an interception. Colts’ Gardner Minshew went 18-28 and one interception. The only touchdown was by Jonathan Taylor in the first quarter. There was NO SCORING AT ALL in the second and third quarter. This was an absolute snooze-fest if you ask me. Watch the look on Mac Jones’ face as he sits on the bench during the game in Germany:

OK, but is Coach Bill Belichick gonna get traded? ?

And here’s the kicker. Mac Jones can’t lead his team to score a touchdown then ends up on the bench. Some random guy named Bailey Zappe comes in for the Patriots and goes 3/7 with an interception of his own. What was even the point in benching Mac Jones for some guy who throws an interception anyway? I guess Coach Bill Belichick wanted to make a point to Mac Jones – or save him for next week. Then again, will Coach Bill Belichick still be with the New England Patriots for their next game? Rumors suggest the coach could be on his way out the door and may get traded!

The Patriots are are now 2-8 at the bottom of the AFC East. The Patriots originally made a trade to get Coach Bill Belichick, and now there may be some traction with trade rumors that say Bill may be on his way out if Robert Kraft thinks it’s needed. A report on CBS Sports touched on the possibility of a coaching trade, saying the following in their sports news report:

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Belichick agreed to a new and “lucrative” contract with the Patriots over the offseason. This latest report from NFL Media illuminates that deal a little more, revealing that Belichick is under contract “at least” this year and the 2024 season. And if the two sides did elect to part ways this coming offseason and Belichick still wanted to coach somewhere in the league, Kraft would want some sort of compensation from whatever team that is trying to install the future Hall of Famer as their newest coach.

Head coaching trades — which is essentially what this would be — are rare but not totally foreign in the NFL. In fact, the Patriots traded for Belichick back in 2000, trading a first-round pick to the Jets in exchange for the rights to the coach. Last offseason, the Denver Broncos also traded for a head coach, acquiring Sean Payton from the Saints for a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-rounder.

Where would Coach Bill Belichick go if he gets traded away from the New England Patriots?
