The Indianapolis Colts are in need of a wide receiver, so they brought in free agent veteran Sammy Watkins, according to Ian Rapoport on X. Ian wrote: “The #Colts, who were in the market for a WR before the trade deadline, worked out veteran Sammy Watkins today, source said.”
Sammy Watkins, 30, played with the Baltimore Ravens last season, but he only saw action in three games. He had three catches for 119 yards during his regular season games. Watkins was able to make one catch in a playoff game. Before that, Sammy Watkins was with the Green Bay Packers where he caught 123 passes, but it was only for 206 yards. Seems like his work wasn’t that intense as he gets a bit older, but maybe he still has a little bit left in the tank to make some short yardage catches when someone reliable is needed for a short first down.
Watkins has journeyed around to multiple teams. He was drafter by the Bills, then ended up on the Rams, then spent time with the Chiefs where he won a Super Bowl. Then he played for the Ravens. Now he could end up being signed as a free agent by the Colts, but seems like the decision hasn’t been made yet, at least not at the time we published this.
