The Houston Texans drafted an unbelievable rooking quaterback in C.J. Stroud. He just had a historic performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he threw for 470 yards and FIVE touchdowns, beating the Bucs 39-37 in an absolute thriller. Stroud bested Baker Mayfield and the Bucs, posting a 30/24, 470 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT stat line. Now that’s big time, baby!
To make things even better for me, I had Tank Dell in my starting lineup on fantasy football and that last second game-winning touchdown was awesome for me too! They gave the Bucs just 6 seconds to play with before the last whistle pierced the air. Turns out the Bucs couldn’t do anything in 6 seconds, solidifying the win for Stroud on his great rookie year.
So what’s the history? Stroud set a single-game passing yards by a rookie record with his 470. He also has 14 touchdowns and only ONE interception – that ties him with Patrick Mahomes for career throwing touchdowns before a second interception. I’d say this is one historic year for Stroud, the rookie signal-caller who just got compared to Patrick Mahomes, a Super Bowl winning quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Stroud faces the Cincinnati Bengals next. Can Stroud outperform Joe Burrow? Want to see the game winning touchdown throw by C.J. Stroud? Then look no further! Here’s the video hosted by the NFL, on X:
