The race for this year’s Heisman trophy is the most open it has been in recent memory, as after 11 weeks of the season, not too many contenders have separated themselves from the pack, there is only a little distinction between them.
So the race is still on, just like the one for the playoffs, and there will be plenty of opportunities for the contenders to prove themselves to win college football’s biggest honor, as each of them still has a marquee match up where they can potentially make their case.
There are just a few weeks left till the end of the regular season, big games and conference championship games, so here is the latest list of top contenders and their chances of winning the award.
QB Bryce Young, Alabama: +180 (bet $100 to win $180)
2021 Stats: 3,025 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, three interceptions, 180.1 passer rating
If Young can put up more big games in these final weeks, he’ll definitely prove his status as the favorite for the Heisman, as the Alabama quarterback has the numbers to win the award.
QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State: +200
2021 Stats: 3,036 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, five interceptions, 179.4 passer rating
If Stroud can lead the Buckeyes to a victory in the next three games while also putting up good numbers, he will be a candidate to become the third freshman to win the Heisman, as he was also the biggest winner last week in the Heisman race.
RB Kenneth Walker III, Michigan State: +300
2021 Stats: 1,473 rushing yards, 6.5 yards per carry, 17 rushing touchdowns, 12 catches, 85 yards receiving
If the Spartans win in Saturday’s game against Ohio State and he puts up good numbers, his chances to win the trophy are going to see a big boost, as he now leads the country in rushing yards and runs of 10 or more yards.
