Tua is a Lock to Win Heisman

If you do not think that Tua Tagovailoa will win the 2018 Heisman Trophy you are a certified crazy person.  Believe me, I’m not on the Bama bandwagon.  The Crimson Tide grind my gears as much as the next guy, but there is no possible way that Tua doesn’t win college football’s most sought after award.  Alabama is 20+ points better than any team in the nation, and Tua is the main reason for that.

Sure, you can try to make the Kyler Murray argument.  Murray has played out of his mind this year, and is a great quarterback.  Apparently, he’s an even better baseball player.  His numbers at Oklahoma may even be slightly better than Tua’s, but let’s not get too carried away.

Through twelve games, Tua Tagovailoa has completed 189 passes out of 269 pass attempts for a 70.3% completion rate.  This is good for 3,189 yards and 36 TDs with only 2 INTs.  For the same period, Kyler Murray has a stat line of 216 completions out of 306 pass attempts for a 70.6% completion rate.  Good for 3,674 yards and 37 TDs with 7 INTs.

These stats may lean in Murray’s favor, but Tua has far fewer passing attempts than Kyler Murray, and has barely played in the fourth quarter of games due to Alabama blowing everyone out.  However, the most glaring blemish on Kyler Murray’s resume is Oklahoma’s loss in the Red River Rivalry game to Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns.  Tua Tagovailoa on the other hand, has demoralized every team Alabama has played, with the closest game being a 24-0 win against #18 Mississippi State.

Unless something magical happens (it won’t) this last week of the season in the conference championship games, Tua Tagovaiola will be your 2018 Heisman Trophy Winner.  Take it to the bank.
